The people behind the labels

exhaustvalve exists because the AI industry's most important raw material — high-quality training data — was being produced with the least care. We do it differently.

Our story

AI models are only as good as the data they learn from, yet annotation has long been treated as commodity piecework: shipped to the cheapest crowd, with quality patched up afterwards and data protection an afterthought.

exhaustvalve was founded in the European Union on the opposite premise: that annotation is skilled work, that the people who do it deserve stable employment and training, and that clients deserve to know exactly where their data is, who touches it, and how its quality is assured.

Today we support machine learning teams across Europe and beyond — from autonomous mobility and healthcare to foundation-model labs — with annotation services that are accurate, auditable and unambiguously GDPR-compliant.

What we stand for

  • Precision over volume.

We'd rather label less, better. Three-stage review on everything.

  • Employed, not crowdsourced.

Trained in-house annotators with fair pay, growth paths and well-being support.

  • Transparency by default.

Clear pricing, productivity reporting, documented quality gates.

  • Privacy as a feature.

EU residency and GDPR compliance built into operations, not bolted on.

How we work

A structured workflow refined across hundreds of projects.

1

Understand

We study your model's task, data and edge cases before quoting anything.

2

Pilot

A free pilot proves quality on your real data against your acceptance criteria.

3

Codify

Guidelines become a living playbook; annotators are trained and calibrated on it.

4

Produce

Dedicated teams label at scale with gold sets and inter-annotator agreement tracking.

5

Improve

Weekly feedback loops refine guidelines and push accuracy higher over time.

Work with a partner, not a queue

Every exhaustvalve project gets a dedicated project manager, a stable annotation team, and direct communication channels — no ticket systems between you and the people labeling your data.
